The Skicross Team is a competitive program set in a fun and challenging environment on Killington Mountain. Athletes are expected to be competent skiers on all terrain at Killington.
Skicross combines elements of alpine ski racing, freestyle skiing and freeski. Skicross is a head-to-head race with four to six competitors simultaneously navigating a course with a variety of features including berms, rollers, jumps and gates. The concept is easy: the first skier across the finish line wins.
The KSC/KMS Competitions Program has all the elements in place to help its athletes to prepare for this new and exciting event. The KSC/KMS skicross program is for interested freestyle or alpine skiers ages 11 and up. Training sessions will teach skiercross fundamentals such as starts, air, berms, rollers, pumping and tucking. The program is designed to prepare the skicross racer for upcoming regional and national competitions. It is highly recommended that skiercross athletes also participate in a full-time alpine or freestyle program. Please contact KSC/KMS Program Director Chuck Hughes (chughes@killingtonmountainschool.org or 802.422.6898) with any questions.
Ages: 9-18 (as of Dec. 31, 2014)
